CAPTAINS is the name of my rec league basketball team. The heptagon represents the original 7-man roster. The name CAPTAINS comes from the fact that, in any given game, a different player might assert himself as the leader.
The 2019 logo introduced the first official identity. It featured a custom stencil wordmark and angular wings. The 2023 logo replaced the stencil lettering with Fort Foundry's Prohibition in a vertically arched nameplate. The wings were completely redrawn with subtle curves. The logo now included a basketball and was intentionally designed to work in one color, making it much more versatile. A 3D version of the logo was crafted with Cinema 4D Lite and Photoshop. Red backlighting and a gold sheen keep the original color scheme intact.
The name and logo appear in schedule graphics designed to fit phone screens. They're much easier to read than the documents provided from the league. The emphasis on game times eliminates the "when do we play?" questions each week. These were an instant hit among teammates. They've evolved to a canvas for me to try different layouts and styles.
